The Wajeeha Thalassemia Center in Swat, established in 2011 in collaboration with the Pakistan Army and district administration, has grown to serve 857 regular patients from across the Malakand Division in KPK. The center provides free-of-cost quality medicine, blood transfusions, and comprehensive care under full supervision.
Although no official survey has been conducted, based on monthly registrations, Swat has one of the highest numbers of thalassemic patients in Pakistan. In 2023 alone, 72 newborns were registered at the center. The facilities are considered one of the top 3 centers in the country, setting a standard for quality and cleanliness that can serve as a model for others.
