Milestone Society for Special Persons was established in March 1993 by disabled individuals with the aim of making them self-sufficient and able to contribute to their families and the country. The society was registered in August 1996 with the Department of Social Welfare. Its primary focus is on promoting independent living, education, creating a barrier-free society, raising awareness, capacity building, providing basic facilities, and normalizing the inclusion of persons with disabilities to become honorable citizens and valuable assets. Mr. Shafique-Ur-Rehman is the 13th President of Milestone. Many students have done PhDs on Milestone. Milestone has the honor of holding the largest production of customized wheelchairs. It has provided approximately. 135,000 manual or customized wheelchairs throughout Pakistan. Milestone offers a platform to enhance the overall quality of life for persons with disabilities, regardless of their gender, creed, social, or economic status.
